WEATHERVANE continues its spring season with an exhibition of painting and sculpture by Richard Sigmund.

Sigmund keeps the creative process alive with works that reference street imagery as a point of learning. He believes the street has a non-decorative quality and an inherent radicalism that embodies constant change. The works selected for this show, according to Sigmund, tell "a story about a moment, not an important moment, just a simple moment in life," and they offer viewers a "place to take a rest." In uplifting simplicity and capturing that which is changing or fleeting, Sigmund seeks to portray "our life with an elevated light, to appreciate what we have without the constant desire for more. I believe this could possibly bring relief."

Richard Sigmund has been living and working in Brooklyn, NY for over 30 years. He has exhibited work in museum and gallery exhibitions across the US, including a one-person show at MoMA PS1.

A reception for the artist will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday, May 12th.  WEATHERVANE is located at 76 North 8th Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
