WEATHERVANE opens its fall season with an eponymous installation by Lisa Hein and Bob Seng. A lighting animation best visible during evening hours, Weathervane’s reception will be held from 8-10 PM on Friday, September 11. The installation is located in the garage window at 76 North 8th Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Weathervane is named for an ornery weathervane on the building’s roof. West winds may prevail, but this vane measures urban eddies, pointing anywhere but. Rural weathervanes spin for different reasons, notably potshots from passing firearms. Along with sieve-like STOP signs, these perforated landmarks delight the rebel in us all. We see through these holes in the social contract to a place where we heed no warnings at all.
